Terms of Service

This page describes, in plain language, the terms that govern use of Guardian.

Who this is for

Guardian accounts are created and controlled by a parent or legal guardian ("you"). Children do not create their own Guardian accounts — a child's device is paired to your family account using a code you generate from your dashboard. You are responsible for having the authority to install monitoring software on any device you pair.

What the service does — and doesn't

Every capability Guardian offers is labeled by what it actually enforces on a given device's operating system — full enforcement, best-effort, or network-level filtering only. We do not claim a capability that a platform's OS doesn't genuinely allow. See the features section on our homepage for the current, real breakdown per platform.

Free trial

• The free trial lasts 7 days.
• It starts when you verify your email address, not when you sign up.
• There is one free trial per person and per household device. We check this with your email, your phone number, and the identifiers of the child devices you pair, as described in our Privacy Policy. If any of them already had a trial, the new account can still subscribe, but won't get another trial.

Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (annually, unless stated otherwise at checkout) through our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — card entry happens on Stripe's own secure checkout page. You can view your current plan and manage or cancel your subscription from your dashboard's billing page at any time; a cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless we state otherwise.

Prices shown on our pricing page are illustrative pre-launch pricing and may change before general availability. We will always show the actual price you'll be charged before you complete checkout.

When a trial or subscription ends

If your trial ends without a subscription, or a subscription lapses or a payment fails, your family's rules are paused. Paused rules are not deleted: they are kept as they were and come back as soon as you pay. While rules are paused, devices don't enforce them and monitoring stops, so no new location or app usage is collected. You can still sign in, see your family, and subscribe.

Acceptable use

• Don't use Guardian to monitor a device or person without the legal authority to do so.
• Don't attempt to circumvent, resell, or redistribute the service without our written permission.
• Don't use the service in a way that violates the law in your jurisdiction.

Termination

You can stop using Guardian and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account for a genuine violation of these terms, with notice where practical.

Limitation of liability

Guardian is provided on an "as-is" basis during early access. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
