You can delete your Guardian account yourself at any time. You have 7 days to change your mind, then your data is erased for good.

On the website

  1. Sign in at myguardian.fyi.
  2. Open the account menu (your name, top right) and choose Delete account.
  3. Read what will happen, enter your password and confirm.

In the Guardian parent app

On iPhone, iPad or Android, open your account settings in parent mode and choose Delete account. If your version of the app doesn't show it yet, use the website: it deletes the same account.

Children's devices and TV apps have no account of their own. Deleting the parent account disconnects them, and they clear their rules.

What happens

  • Straight away: your subscription is cancelled, so you won't be charged again.
  • Straight away: your children's devices are disconnected and stop applying rules.
  • Straight away: you are signed out everywhere, and any other parents in your family get an email.
  • After 7 days: we erase your children's profiles, devices and rules, location and app usage history, alerts, invites, activity history, the other parents' access to your family, and your sign-in (email, password, name, photo and phone number).

If you help manage someone else's family, deleting your account erases only your own sign-in and access, and that family's owner gets an email. That family and its children are not affected. Your past changes stay in its activity history without your name.

Changed your mind?

Sign in before the date and the deletion is cancelled. Your family, history and settings come back. Devices have to be paired again, because disconnecting a device can't be undone.

What we keep, and for how long

  • One-way codes made from your email, phone number and children's devices, for 24 months, so a new account can't start a second free trial. They can't be turned back into the email, number or device, and are deleted automatically after 24 months.
  • Stripe, our payment processor, keeps the payment records it must keep by law.

Nothing else is kept.

Can't sign in?

Reset your password from the sign-in page, or write to hello@myguardian.fyi from your account's email address and we will delete it for you.
